THIS ISLAND ALONE

The WORLD PREMIERE of a new play developed at The Vineyard Playhouse and based on the history of Chilmark where for almost 200 years a signing community flourished. The inhabitants of this rural island town have lived and grown together for generations. No one even notices that there are so many deaf folks; just seems that’s the way it’s always been. ‘Til one day, two off-islanders arrive, and with a single question, change the community forever.

TWO ROOMS
By Lee Blessing. Directed by Joann Green Breuer.
The Western world. The Middle Eastern world. Two worlds. Two rooms. Where wife and husband map a modern geography of love, politics, and the press. Time Magazine’s Best Play of 1988 is all the more relevant today.

COPENHAGEN

Fate hangs in the balance and the soul of man is revealed, in this Tony Award winner for Best Play in 2000. Two atomic scientists meet in Copenhagen in the thick of World War II. What they said to one another may have changed the course of history. But no one knows for sure what was said or why. And no one knows for sure what motives lay buried in their hearts.

The NEW ENGLAND PREMIERE of a new play inspired by historical accounts of African American jockeys.
