The Last Weekend of The Homecoming

The Homecoming has been met with great audience response and rave reviews in the Martha’s Vineyard Times and the Vineyard Gazette. Come see the show in its final weekend, this Friday and Saturday at 7pm.
The Homecoming, which was the original inspiration for the popular television show The Waltons, is a heartwarming holiday tale about a family living in the Appalachian Mountains in the 1930’s.  One Christmas Eve, the patriarch of the family is nowhere to be found and the brood is left to wonder, worry, and await his return home.  Told through the eyes of the oldest son Clay-Boy, The Homecoming is a classic story about family, community, and the value of love and joy far outweighing that of any currency. The showis a perfect night out for the whole family and a great way to celebrate the holidays with your fellow islanders.
This year’s production of The Homecoming is sponsored by the Liman Foundation and dedicated in the loving memory of Virginia Hackney, a joyous force and memorable part of so many Holiday plays at The Vineyard Playhouse.
