Encore Performance

SLOW TRAIN COMING is Back at the Playhouse to Support Alzheimer's Awarness
The Vineyard Playhouse is pleased to announce an encore performance of Maureen Hourihan’s trilogy of short plays, SLOW TRAIN COMING, preceded by Arlene Bodge, who will read selections from her writings about memory loss. This special evening is on the same weekend as the Vineyard’s annual “Miles of Memories” walk (sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Services of Cape Cod and the Islands) and will be held at the Playhouse, 24 Church Street in downtown Vineyard Haven on Saturday, October 13 at 7 PM.
Ms. Hourihan wrote SLOW TRAIN RUNNING as a tribute to her father, who had Alzheimer’s.  It follows the journey of one family as they cope with the realities of the disease and the life lessons learned along the way.  The show is directed by Artistic Director MJ Bruder Munafo and features Clark Maffitt, BeeBee Horowitz Kendall, Paul Munafo and Victoria Campbell in a fully staged reading. SLOW TRAIN COMING was originally performed as part of last spring’s ISLAND INTERLUDES festival at the Playhouse.
Tickets are $20 general admission and can be purchased in advance or at the door on the evening of the performance. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to benefit Alzheimer’s Services of Cape Cod and the Islands.  The organization’s goal is to raise awareness and funds. All money raised remains in the area to fund a telephone helpline, support groups, and respite care services.

NOTE: For baseball fans, there should be plenty of time to get home for the opening pitch of Saturday’s championship game, so come and support a great cause before you head home to support your team.
